Rally for Ukraine held downtown on 2-year anniversary of Russian invasion
In Milwaukee, people gathered at O'Donnell Park downtown to rally in support of Ukraine on Saturday, Feb. 24.
It was hosted by Wisconsin Ukrainians, and the even drew dozens of supporters, including Mayor Cavalier Johnson.
Yesterday, the mayor issued a proclamation standing with the war-torn nation and Ukraine here at home.
Organizers say they hope the US will send critical aid soon.
"It seems to be that the help we need right now, its military aid, its blocked by Congress and we are truly hoping that the bill will pass, and we will get the help we were promised," said Halyna Salapata, president of Wisconsin Ukrainians.
Wisconsin Ukrainians/Mauthe Center hold free screening of ’20 Days in Mariupol’
A local Ukrainian group and the Mauthe Center co-sponsored a free screening of an award-winning documentary on Tuesday night.
’20 Days in Mariupol’ tells the story of Ukrainian civilians living in Mariupol when Russia laid siege to the city during the early winter and spring months back in 2022.

Thursday night, the group Wisconsin Ukrainians is hosting a benefit concert in Shorewood to raise money to help wounded Ukrainian soldiers.

Thursday night's benefit concert is at St. Robert Roman Catholic Church in Shorewood, located at 4019 N. Farwell Ave. The group is suggesting a free will donation.
